Stock Controller & Inventory Manager

Location: Tumaren Conservancy, Laikipia, Kenya

At Karisia Walking Safaris, every safari depends on careful planning and preparation. From fresh food supplies to camping equipment, every item must be in the right place at the right time. We are looking for an organised, reliable and proactive Stock Controller to oversee the inventory that keeps our safaris running smoothly.

Based in our stores at Tumaren Conservancy, approximately 2½ hours north of Nanyuki, you will be responsible for managing food supplies for our camps as well as accommodation equipment used on our mobile walking safaris. This is a hands-on role that combines logistics, organisation and technology in one of Kenya's most beautiful conservation areas.

Your Role

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate, real-time inventories of all stock held by the company. Every delivery received and every item leaving the stores must be recorded immediately using our digital inventory system on a tablet or computer.

Working closely with safari guides, camp managers, chefs and drivers, you will ensure that safari teams leave fully equipped while maintaining accurate stock records and identifying shortages before they become problems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate digital inventory records for all food, beverages and safari equipment.

  • Record all stock received from suppliers using tablets and computers.

  • Issue stock to safari teams and permanent camps while ensuring every item is correctly checked out.

  • Receive returned equipment and record its condition before it is placed back into storage.

  • Monitor stock levels and alert management before supplies become low.

  • Carry out regular stock counts and investigate any discrepancies.

  • Organise stores so that supplies are clean, labelled, easy to locate and rotated correctly.

  • Work closely with our purchasing team to ensure uninterrupted supply.

  • Help maintain high standards of hygiene, food storage and equipment care.

  • Produce simple stock reports and maintain accurate inventory records.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Is highly organised and naturally enjoys keeping systems accurate.

  • Has excellent attention to detail.

  • Is confident using computers, tablets and digital inventory software.

  • Learns new software quickly.

  • Can communicate clearly and professionally, even when working under pressure.

  • Remains calm and diplomatic when balancing requests from safari teams, guides and kitchen staff.

  • Is honest, dependable and takes pride in maintaining accurate records.

  • Can prioritise multiple tasks without losing attention to detail.

  • Is physically fit enough to move boxes and equipment when required.

  • Works well both independently and as part of a team.

  • Preferable has some previous experience in stock control, logistics, hospitality, warehousing or supply chain management (preferred but not essential).

  • Holds a valid Kenyan driving licence (an advantage).

Living at Tumaren

This position is based within Tumaren Conservancy in Laikipia, approximately 2½ hours north of Nanyuki. The successful applicant should enjoy living and working in a remote conservation area surrounded by wildlife. While this is not a town-based position, it offers the opportunity to become part of a close-knit team dedicated to conservation, hospitality and exceptional safari experiences.
