1st March: Arrive Kigali & travel to the Virungas
On arrival at Kigali Airport at 08h10, you will be met in the arrival area with a signboard and escorted to the VIP lounge to relax / have a drink while the facilitator gets your passports stamped and luggage collected.   It is then a three hour drive into the Virunga Mountains and to Bisate Lodge.

1st to 4th March

An award-winning eco-chic rainforest lodge nestled in a mesmerising volcanic landscape. Like giant birds’ nests tucked into the trees, the six Forest Villas that make up Wilderness Bisate at Volcanoes National Park are simply breath-taking. And arguably the finest base in Africa from which to trek to see the famous mountain gorillas of the Virungas. 

On the mornings of 2nd & 3rd, you will be driven approx 10 minutes to the Virunga National Park entrance, the meeting point for the start of your trek. Prior to departure you will be given a briefing by park staff, assigned a gorilla family to visit and rangers to guide you. Gorilla tracking timings and conditions vary tremendously as the gorillas move continuously through the rain forest. It is good to be prepared and remember the weather can change with very little warning. The terrain is often steep and through areas where there are no marked paths. Your trek may be just a couple of hours but it can also be for a full day of up to 8 hours or more of hiking.

You will be allowed up to one hour for viewing of the gorillas from when they are sighted by your group. This is to ensure that they are not over exposed to humans. Whilst in their presence you will also be required to keep minimum distances from them, where possible.

4th March: Depart

At around 08h00 you will be collected from the lodge and taken on a Golden Monkey trek. Once the trek is over, you will be driven back to Kigali airport (3 hours) in time for your flight to Rwanda Air flight WB 402 to Nairobi at 17h30. The flight lands at 2010 and Tradewinds will take you through customs to meet Airports &Beyond. They will take you to the Eka Hotel.

5th March: Airports & Beyond will meet you at the Eka Hotel at 0700 and take you to Wilson airport for you private charter from Wilson to Borana - East African Air Charters: 0800

11th March: Private charter from Borana to Wilson - East African Air Charters: 1730. Airports & Beyond will collect you and take you to Matteos for dinner and then to JKIA for your BA flight. Meet and Greet Included.
