DAY 5: Nantodo
After an early morning walk or relaxing at the camp watching wildlife in front of your tent you will be driven to the start of your walk. The camels and your team for the next 4 days will meet you here and carry your luggage to the camp. You will descend a winding sand river that passes close under a beautiful granite pinnacle called Nantodo. At the junction of the sand river and the Ewaso Nyiro river you will see camp set up under some shady umbrella-shaped Acacia trees. Lunch will be ready. This is a main crossing point for samburu warriors and a watering point for livestock which makes it a colourful few hours during the day.
Nantodo rises abruptly out of arid plains and it is a landmark for hundreds of kilometres. After a refreshing lunch and a relaxing afternoon in the shade we will might hike up Nantodo and at the top toast the the Mathews Range and the Karisia Hills to our North. You and your guide will scan below for Greater Kudu or Elephant herds. Back at camp hot showers and cool drinks will be waiting for you. Dinner under the stars with the sound of the Nightjars serenade.
