29th December - Tumaren Camp, Laikipia
This morning, the group will gradually gather together at Tumaren Camp either by plane or road and settle in to their tents and relax before lunch.
Set among granite outcrops and acacia woodland, Tumaren overlooks sweeping plains where giraffe and elephant often graze below. Seven spacious canvas tents are tucked beneath shady trees, each with views of the plains and bush beyond, while the main mess area and pool provide a relaxed gathering place after a day’s adventure. Designed to blend seamlessly with its surroundings, Tumaren offers both comfort and an immediate sense of connection to the land and its wildlife.
Lunch will be at the pool and a drive in the evening will take us to sundowners (optional kids’ supper available on the sundowner rocks).
Dinner will be served at the main mess at Tumaren.
30th December - Tumaren Camp, Laikipia
Days at Tumaren Camp are filled with adventure and discovery. Guests can explore on guided walks with our trackers and with our faithful camels, or go rock climbing on our local granite kopjes that rise from the plains. Game drives reveal Laikipia’s rich wildlife, while birding, swimming in the 20-metre pool, and quiet moments watching wildlife from camp offer more tranquil ways to connect with nature. Beading and visits to our local homesteads can be easily planned, and perhaps an afternoon game of frisbee at the local village. Today we will start the day with a walk to a bush breakfast, and lunch will be by the pool.
31st December - Tumaren Camp, Laikipia - NEW YEAR’S EVE!
A new day at Tumaren begins with breakfast in the mess before setting out on foot with the camels or a game drive, perhaps stopping by the camel crèche to meet the young ones. Depending on timing we may visit a nearby market for a glimpse of local life before returning to camp for a leisurely lunch and a dip in the pool. As evening falls, dinner unfolds under the stars after cocktails at the pool. Party time!
1st January - Ewaso Mobile Camp
After breakfast at Tumaren, we will set out with the camels or by vehicle for the mobile camp along the Ewaso Nyiro River. The journey traces ancient wildlife paths through open plains and rocky hills, with pauses to watch herds of zebra, giraffe, and possibly the occasional elephant. On arrival in time for a delicious buffet lunch, the river’s cool shade and the welcoming sight of the new camp await, with your tents pitched along the water’s edge.
2nd January - Ewaso Mobile Camp
Days unfold at an easy rhythm beside the Ewaso Nyiro River. This camp is situated in an excellent position for trying for some of our more difficult to see predators like Lion, Leopard or Striped Hyenas. Set out on guided walks, or ride with the camels as they move quietly through the bush. More Rock climbing is always close by for anyone that would like to get some more time on the kopjes . Evenings are spent by the riverbank, where the campfire reflects on the water and the sounds of the wild fill the night.
3rd January - Departure
