How our DIY Camping works

We have set up our camping on Tumaren so that visitors can be 100% DIY. The camping and conservation fees include firewood, safari toilets and 200 litres clean water for washing up. We include 2 rangers as part of the cost of camping and they will answer basic questions, clean up any of your dishes and take you on a stroll, drive if you wish. We can set up part of your camp or the whole camp for a nominal fee. Added extras are the use of our walking guides, cooks, climbing guides and camels and vehicles.

How do you get around ?

We are 2 hours from Nanyuki and have made a series of digital maps so that visitors can easily find their way to us and then around all our game drive roads on this 9,500 acres of pristine Laikipia. We have the map as a Google map (kml) as well using the excellent app, Gaia GPS (great topo maps, recording and sharing. Excellent for wilderness). Below is what the overall map would look like for visitors to download to their phones and view in detail. First you must download the free app, Gaia GPS to your phone using app store or google play. Then hit the link to this Map. It will launch Gaia’s website with the Map Folder showing. Make sure you are logged in on the site and then hit the plus sign. This saves / copies the FOLDER to your saved locations.
