Kerry Glen - CV

Kerry was born in Kenya and grew up accompanying her parents and brother on safaris all over East Africa. Kerry's father is the sculptor Robert Glen and many of the family expeditions revolved around studying the biology and design of the animals they encountered. At the Univeristy of Cape Town, Kerry continued to pursue her interests in the natural world studying Enviromental and Geographical Sciences. Back in Kenya, Kerry designed, built and managed the renowned lodge, Sabuk. Also in Laikipia she guided walking safaris with Sabuk and Ewaso River Camel Hikes for eight years leading clients through some of the most stunning and rugged country in Kenya. Kerry also led many photographic safaris with Ewaso River Camel Hikes providing photographers with an intimate perspective of her country.

James Christian - CV

Accompanying safaris arranged by his Kenyan raised mum, Anthea Christian, James developed a passion for wildlife and ecology. James was raised in America where he studied Wildlife Biology at The University of Vermont. Since University James has worked as a biologist, working predominantly with endangered birds. During this time James shot motion picture film footage of birds that he sold to Television programs like Public Television's program, NATURE. Lenjoh Lewarges

Lenjoh is a Samburu who was raised in the Maralal area of northern Kenya. Lenjoh was first employed at the age of thirteen at Sabuk Lodge where he worked with Kerry. His job was to look after a flock of Guinea Fowl and despite the fact the birds were all subsequently eaten by a cobra Lenjoh moved on to the kitchen where he enjoyed much greater success. Lenjoh has been working with safari clients ever since providing services ranging from fixing broken axles to making homemade butternut ravioli. In 2000 he received a Safari cooking certificate from the acclaimed Safari Cooking company. Lenjo speaks Samburu, Swahili and English and is profficient in all aspects of the safari business. Lenjoh is a driver as well and has taken many clients on mobile photographic safaris with one of our hired vehicles.

Gabriel Ewoi

Gabriel is our lead walking safari guide on all Samburu Led Safaris. Fluent in Natural History as well as four languages, Gabriel is an excellent teacher. Without bombarding guests with information Gabriel is able to offer insight into the natural world in Northern Kenya as well as its many cultures and traditions.

Kura

Kura is a Turkana and grew up surrounded by Samburu and Laikipia Masai Neighbors near the Ewaso River in northern Kenya. Kura is a cook in training as well a waiter and a general all-purpose Kitchen Assistant. Kura not only has a devilish sense of humour but he can also make an spectacular Tiramisu. In the Kitchen assisting Lenjoh and Kura are Patiri and Bonifas not pictured here.

Losorogol

Losorogol’s nickname is the big friendly giant because he towers over all his family and neighbors near Kisima Town in the Karisia Hills. When Losorogol was a warrior he was known to eat an entire goat in one sitting. Losorogol works in the set up and maintence of the camp as well as a tracker on our hikes. Typically when we walk we will bring two trackers who help to carry water, some food, cameras etc. More importantly though they help us to decipher tracks, spot game or to identify trees and plants that they use for various medicines.

Leponoto

While Leponoto is rather hard of hearing he doesn’t miss a beat. When visitors want a hot shower, Leponoto is there. When camp needs to go up fast its Leponoto who is in charge. Alongside Leponoto works Losorogol, Lemarti and Lokomoiro.
